I felt like making flowers today.
Black gesso background with my most vibrant Aquastics and Neocolor II.
I wish I could get a better picture of these. In person they seem so different. They have a layer of encaustic medium on top giving them a creamy, almost ceramic feel.
I had so much fun making them today. Layer upon layer of paper, paint, more paint and wax. Then I carved some lines into them for added texture. So fun!
What I’m loving:
*That we celebrated my grandpa’s 90th birthday this weekend *That I saw my sister and she made me a laugh a hundred times *That I spent some time with my girlfriends last weekend * That I shared some coffee with my hubby at my favorite coffee spot *That I saw some beautiful skies this week *That my best friend gave me some beautiful thrifted tea towels *That I was able to spend a lot of time painting this week.
I hope you are loving lots of things too!
I will be a doing an arts & craft fair in Phoenix this December for the Arizona Audubon Society called, “Gifts from Nature“. I am super excited to be doing this show because I will be able to paint some of my most favorite subjects: birds, butterflies and flowers.
I will be selling prints and lots of small original art, including these little flower vases. I hope to make a whole series of these. I already have a little pile of salvaged wood to paint on, so you will be seeing more of these in the future.
Have I mentioned that I won a swimsuit from Popina? I made a comment over on SFgirl and I won!
Not only is it crazy cool that I won, but it actually fits great and the quality is superb. I had my reservations about picking a swimsuit online, but I couldn’t be more happy with it. I haven’t been able to find a suit this cute, even when shopping for suits in person. At least not here where I live.
I got the Modest Mabel tankini top, hence no full shot of me, with boy short bottoms. There are so many other really cute suits in retro, vamp and vintage styles. Next summer I might get that really cute red polka-dot halter. And since I almost always go to Portland every year, maybe I can even visit them in person.
I hope you will give them a visit and like their shop too.

My Art of Giving course ended yesterday and I had to share some of the amazing work that has been created over the last 4 weeks by my students.
It was an absolute pleasure working with all these women. They have been so supportive of each other and are all so talented. Pure joy and magic.
Thank you ladies for a wonderful time!
I worked on my September inspiration board today. I loved my last board so much and was hesitant to take it down, but I am glad I did. I love this board too!
I’m adding the comments from my last two post and some from FB that all of you have sent me. I’m adding more, but wanted to snap a pic before I lost day light. All of your beautiful and encouraging words are there for me to see everyday. After this board has run it’s course, I might have to add all the comments into a little book.
Thank you for them. They really do fill my heart with encouragement and joy.
